Authentication options in ProVide #
ProVide provides secure HTTPS-based access for file management and can be integrated with external authentication systems to further strengthen access control. Authentication integrations are configured through the ProVide HTTPS administration interface. Multiple multi-factor authentication methods can be configured simultaneously, allowing administrators to enable or disable them as needed.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) #
ProVide supports multiple MFA solutions to protect against credential-based attacks by requiring an additional authentication factor beyond the username and password:
- Duo Security (MFA)
Adds push-based or token-based second-factor verification, commonly used to mitigate phishing and password compromise. - ESET Secure Authentication (MFA)
Provides OTP- and push-based MFA, suitable for environments already using ESET security products. - Microsoft Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
Integrates with Microsoft Entra ID MFA for strong second-factor enforcement using Microsoft’s identity platform.
MFA with Single Sign-On (SSO) support. #
- OpenID Connect (OIDC)
ProVide supports SSO via OpenID Connect, delegating authentication to an external identity provider.
This enables:- Centralized identity and access management
- Enforcement of existing IAM policies (including conditional access and MFA at the IdP level)
- Reduced local credential handling within ProVide
- Simplified user onboarding and offboarding
Note: SSO is available only when using OpenID Connect. Other MFA integrations provide additional authentication factors but do not offer full SSO capabilities.
These MFA options significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access, even if user credentials are exposed.
