Welcome to ProVide Installation Tutorial!

This is a basic tutorial for setting up ProVide.

Executing the setup package

Run the downloaded ProVide_Setup.exe file. If you haven’t downloaded ProVide you can do that from here.

License agreement

The first thing you are faced with is the (rather short) license agreement which must be accepted by clicking the checkbox before you can proceed.

Click the checkbox and then Next.


Components & Password

Here you select where you want to install ProVide on this computer and if you want to run it as system service or if you want to start it manually. You will also need to set a password because ProVide requires a password for accessing the administration interface. Remember this as you will need it to configure the server. You Dont need to set password if you are updating so uncheck the checkbox above Administrator info.

Enter your password.

Click Next.



Here you select which method you want to create a certificate for ProVide with. You have two options "Automatically" or Manually. If you choose automatically it creates it for you and if you create it manually you will need to fill in some info.

Choose an option and click "Next".


Finishing the installation

Once installation has completed you are faced with the option to simply press ”Finish” and all installed applications will automatically start.

Click Finish.


Running the administration site

Connecting to a server

When the administration site starts you are faced with a ”log in”-dialog in which you need to write the administration username and password you entered earlier.

Enter your username and password then click OK.


Activating a fully functional Enterprise license trial

Once logged on to ProVide you will be faced with a window informing you that you need a license to use ProVide. If you do not yet have a license you may simply click on the button ”Activate trial…” to open up the trial registration form.

The trial registration requires very little information and is easily filled.

Once logged on to ProVide you will be faced with a window informing you that you need a license to use ProVide. If you have already purchased a license then you activate it by clicking the Activate license button.


Select a valid license file

Browse to your license file and mark it, then click Open.


Configuring services


To start using FTP for example you need to activate it on the server before you can use it. First choose method in Admin interface and then activate it.

Activate for example FTP and click "Apply" and "OK"

Setting up your first account

To set up a account you first go to "Users&Group" on the top left. Then you click on "User" and then "NewUser". Now you fill in the information "Username" and Password even Displayname if you want to.

Click "Apply" and "OK".


Setting up home directory for user

Setting up home directory is very easy in ProVide click on "Home Directory". Here you add "Resource" first then you can create subfolders with "New folder" option. Here you can even change rights for your folder and resource at the top right.

Choose a resource folder and fill in rights then click "OK" Now click "Apply" and "OK" again.


Setting up services for user

To activate the service you want the user to have access to you navigate to "Services" in the users tab. Then activate the services you want to activate.

Activate service and click "Apply" then "OK".


Connecting to your server with an FTP client

Simply provide your server IP along with the username and password you created just recently.
